Adopting Thomas

Hey guys just wanted to give you all an update on Thomas, formerly known as Colin 🙂

We could seriously not ask for a better dog for our family, he has just fit in so seamlessly. Hes gentle with the littlies and really playful for the older kids. My eldest has loved having him sleep in her bed every night since we’ve had him and he has just loved it too 🙂 we’ve had a few toileting accidents but that was to be expected being a new home and all 🙂 he’s also put on some weight, which is great and he’ll continue to do, not too much though hehe, i’ll need to keep him at a healthy weight as to not irritate his little legs 🙂 we took him to the vet on Thursday to have his heart worm test and im pleased to report, it came back negative 🙂

We have bought him a whole heap of toys which he absolutely loves! His favourite is his treat ball which the kids are loving using it to teach him how to fetch. We also go on walks most days, its hard in this heat, so its either early in the morning or late at night, but he has been great on his lead and loving getting to know his new neighbourhood 🙂

All in all he is such a treasure and we wanted to thankyou so much for choosing us to be his family we love him so much, and im sure he loves us too.

Training With PAWS Darwin

We started training with PAWS Darwin 4 years ago when we adopted Jessie, a senior blue heeler X. Lisa helped us to settle her into our family with no problems, and we also took our 11 year old Ridgeback x, Koda. He loved classes and went regularly until a few weeks before he passed away at 13.W had taken several foster dogs too as good training helps to maximise their chances of being adopted. We then adopted Zoomer in 2018 and he continues to go to classes because he loves socialising with other dogs. We attend the Palmerston Classes at the Salvation Amy Church Hall on Monday nights because it is close to home and an enclosed area so the dogs can socialise off lead. Over the years we have seen so many dogs blossom with just a few weeks training- some fosters or paws adoptions but also many unrelated (to PAWS ) dogs as well. Some, like ourselves continue to attend for socialising and others just attend until they resolve behaviour issues.
