Lisa Hansen: Founder, Trainer, and Advocate for Animal Welfare
Lisa Hansen is a founding member of PAWS Darwin, dedicating over a decade to shaping and growing the organization into the thriving community it is today. With extensive experience working with dogs, cats, and other animals, Lisa’s passion lies in education and empowering individuals to achieve more with their pets and in their lives.
Her philosophy is simple yet powerful: through non-judgmental education and access to opportunities, anyone can find success if they choose to. This belief has guided her work and inspired countless individuals to build stronger, more rewarding relationships with their animals.
In recognition of her contributions to animal care in the Northern Territory, Lisa was honored with the Animal Hero Award in 2011 by the NT Government.
As a trainer with nearly 15 years of experience—often described as “people training”—Lisa has seen methods evolve but remains grounded in timeless principles: respecting the animals and their handlers while creating opportunities for success. Her team of trainers began their journey with their own challenging dogs and now share their knowledge to help others overcome similar hurdles.
Lisa is also a published author whose books provide valuable insights into understanding canine behavior, fostering positive habits, and supporting foster dogs. These resources are available on Amazon and Kindle, offering practical advice for pet owners and trainers alike.
Driven by her passion for improving lives through the human-animal bond, Lisa launched the PAWS Darwin Heart Dog Program. Years of planning, training, and learning have culminated in this initiative, which supports both PAWS Darwin candidate dogs and owner-trained emotional support animals. The program is already making a significant impact, offering hope and help to those in need.
Accredited, experienced, and committed, Lisa is available for assessments and to provide support to individuals seeking to enhance their relationship with their pets.
