Volunteer Change a Life- It might even be yours that changes!

Volunteers are life blood to organisations such as PAWS Darwin, without volunteers life ticks over and everything is done, but nothing extra is completed. Just the basic’s. With Volunteers though it is a whole different story, imagine what we could do with an extra person a week who can play with puppies and give them some basic manners. Imagine what we could do with outreach, helping animals in need. Imagine how tidy the shelter could be, or how much work could get done on the dogs day runs. Imagine if we had enough volunteers that the dogs got to go to the beach once a week, or even every day!

How about a role in Foster Care co-ordination, would foster carers appreciate a person who called them up once a week and had a chat about what’s happening with their foster pet?An adoption counsellor, someone who had time to go through everyones requests and find the animal most suited to their needs. Imaging having someone available so that we could be open longer hours, so the animals can have more contact time with people. 

PAWS Darwin currently has some great volunteers, people who are helping some of these activities to happen now. Our Saturday Sunday Arvo Teams are coming in walking the dogs and looking out for them, cuddling the cats. Our Saturday Sunday teams are helping the Staff get the cleaning done earlier so more time can be spent with the animals. 

But there’s still a place for you. What is your area of passion and expertise, what would you like contribute to changing an animals life? 

Is education important can you help fundraise? there are just so many areas that a small shelter like ours can do with help in. 

So many years ago now PAWS Darwin was started to make a difference, it has been a long tough journey to get to where we are, and the journey is not over yet. We want to be a shelter with a difference, and part of that difference is you and what you can bring to us. Over the years we have had so many wonderful people who have committed energy to help PAWS Darwin become what it is. Big or small their time and energy, their ideas and their contributions have all made PAWS Darwin what it is. As an organisation we are committed to supporting our community, building a platform that enables humans to care for their pets better. We are committed to developing peoples skills giving opportunities to people to learn and gain experience and even just to connect with other people who are like minded.
